Yoga & Coffee: “To Quit or Not to Quit?”

Yoga & Coffee:

Dear Yoga Student,

As a former bean junkie, turned coffee-hater,
people are always giving me grief…

I can relate. I’ve been there. For many years,
I truly believed coffee was the gift of Gods.

Starbucks, my heaven in the sky. But then, by
chance, I was cut off from the bean for 10 days
straight (I was in silent meditation, actually). So
accidentally, I quit.

Simultaneously, I woke up.

No kidding, coffee makes you stupid tired. In a
pinch, it can wake you up for 90 minutes or so,
but other than that, it’s a liquid energy suck.

So I gave it up for good, and noticed all kinds of
other changes too… namely increases in my flexibility
and attention span.

If you secretly know that your morning brew is
keeping you down, learn more about quitting here:
YOGA & COFFEE

If you’re not ready yet to part with your coffee,
I understand. We’ve all got our vices, and there
certainly are worse ones.

Stay bendy,

Lucas

Thanks for the link, I admit that quitting coffee is like cutting off a lifeline in my book. I think I can never give it up without any intervention of some kind. But given all the information I have read so far regarding its cons I am reconsidering my stand.

I am a guilty coffee addict, I consume 5 cups or more in a day. And while reading your post, it somehow slapped the truth to my face :) . I also think that I am just in denial of the bad effects of coffee to my body, I seriously love those beans. I will start the long process of rejecting coffee by pouring my cup in the sink now (grin..seriously).

Coffee really has a bad effect to my system, I cant Sleep! That’s why I’m always late for school.
That’s when I decided to switch to tea, results? Well very tight sleeping and I feel my stomach is lighter than before, I think it really cleansed out my digestive system. And I think for yoga, tea is a helpful drink.

Generally, I agree drinking too much coffee is not good for you. Here and there I heard of researches that claim that it is good for you.
For several years now I limit myselft to no more than 2 cups a day and only coffee I like. Regularly I drink only coffee or water. On ocassions I may drink some herbal tea of a sort but almost never drinks that contain artificial sugar.
When working, I usually feel very tired if I don’t have at least one coffee. But suprisingly, I found that if I am on business trip or someplace good coffee is not available, I don’t have that much trouble going without it.
I am interested to know, what else did you quit at the same time you quit coffee? how much were you drinking before you quit?
In general, it is interesting if consuming something in moderation is better than quitting it altogether.

Coffee has bad effects for some. But how about for people like me who cannot start the day right without sipping a cup of cappuccino?

If I’ll have to drink my coffee this way, I’ll just quit. :D
